What's happening
April 5, 2003
Welcome back race fans to another exciting episode of as the
race car BLOWS up. Yes, as you guessed, it has happened again.
Our motor that we called the LITTLE WONDER isn't anymore.
After drawing an 18 and starting on the front row outside for
the 1st heat, Shane was unmerciful as he took the lead and never
looked back. Now, the part I hate, we have to draw for the invert.
Tim seems to be lucky today, so we will let him do the honors.
Bingo! Tim pulled a 0 for the invert so Shane is starting on the
pole for the feature.
After studying the track, we decided on the chassis set up, gave
everything a once over and belted Shane into the car. The green
flag flew and shane took the lead with Chris in the 55 car on his
tail. After a couple of cautions, and some awesome restarts, Shane
has kept the car in the front. Chris isn't giving up though, he
is trying every line he can. Shane seems to be hooked up perfect
exiting the turns, and pulls a couple of car links off each turn.
Then it starts to happen... with four or five laps left the car starts
to smoke going into the turns. Chris Duto, the track manager, pointed
it out to me and asked if I wanted to black flag him. I told him let
it go unless it becomes a problem for the other cars, this is almost
over and he is still leading.
Shane continued to lead, then in turn four the car pushed and the 55
car got by, Shane tried to get it back, but our Little Wonder is
going away, then the 91 car popped Shane in the butt and turned him
around. We wanted a caution and a restart but the motor had let go.
Shane pulled her to the infield until the race finished.
I will get back to ya'll when we get our motor out of the machine shop.
